What is ESG Essentials

ESG Essentials is a 24-month Erasmus+ project (2024–2026) that aims to promote the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the operations of SMEs and microenterprises across Europe.
The project addresses the growing demand for sustainability and responsible business practices by creating practical and accessible tools for training, implementation and capacity building.
Six organizations from Malta, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, and Bulgaria collaborate in this partnership to provide SMEs and professionals with the skills, resources and guidance needed to adopt ESG strategies aligned with EU values and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Target groups

• SMEs and microenterprises looking to adopt or strengthen ESG practices
• Entrepreneurs and business professionals aiming to improve sustainability and governance in their organizations
• VET organizations and trainers interested in delivering ESG-focused education and training
• Consultants, coaches and facilitators working in business development and responsible innovation

Project Objectives​

  • Expand the benefits of ESG beyond large corporations to SMEs and microenterprises
  • Raise awareness on the importance of ESG and sustainability across business sectors
  • Close the ESG skills gap by providing accessible training resources
  • Strengthen the role of VET providers and trainers in promoting ESG competencies
  • Foster collaboration among stakeholders to build an ESG-aware community across Europe

Expected Results​

• ESG Essentials Curriculum & Training: A modular, hands-on training package covering Environment, Social, Governance, Financial, and Project sustainability
• ESG Implementation Framework: A step-by-step guide to help SMEs plan and apply ESG strategies tailored to their size and context
• ESG Digital Learning Platform: An interactive e-learning hub hosting the project resources and tools for continuous learning
• Dissemination & Engagement Strategy: Local and international outreach actions to ensure visibility, impact and exploitation of the project outcomes
